Supporting Children Through the Power of Play

Helping Your Child Feel Heard, Understood, and empowered!

My work is grounded in play based therapy techniques, a research-based approach that allows children to express feelings and experiences in ways that feel natural and safe. Through play, we learn how a child experiences the world and communicates their needs, especially when words are hard to find.

Each session is tailored to your child’s unique strengths, including those who are Neurodivergent. I celebrate neurodiversity and support children with ADHD, Autism, and learning differences.

Parent support sessions are offered alongside play therapy, helping caregivers better understand their child’s emotional world and develop practical tools to nurture connection, structure, and growth at home.

Together, we help your child feel understood, confident, and resilient - because healing happens through relationships.

What is the power of play?

Play is a child’s natural language, and play based therapy allows children to express what they might not yet have the words for. Through play, children can process emotions, work through challenges, and grow in emotional understanding. At Guided by Intuition Psychotherapy, we offer developmentally appropriate, evidence-based play therapy services that support your child in navigating big feelings, transitions, and life stressors safely and creatively.

Play-based therapy offers children a way to communicate their emotional world through their most natural form of expressions- play, behavior, and connection with others. It creates a safe space for children to explore their inner experiences, discover their strengths, and begin developing healthy coping skills. This process often helps children feel more empowered, confident, and understood.

We support children (ages 5+) experiencing:

  • Anxiety or worries

  • Big emotions

  • Separation anxiety

  • Difficulty with transitions or changes

  • Grief or loss

  • School or peer challenges

  • Family transitions

  • Sensory sensitivities

  • Low self-esteem or confidence

Our Approach

  • Child-Centered Play Therapy allows children to express and process emotions through play, the way they naturally communicate. In our sessions, your child leads the play while I provide a safe, supportive space to explore feelings, build coping skills, and strengthen their sense of self. Through this process, children learn to manage emotions, solve problems, and feel more confident- one play experience at a time.

  • We recognize that relationships are central to healing. Children often look to caregivers to help make sense of their emotions and experiences. Our approach supports secure attachment between child and caregiver by offering insight, co-regulation strategies, and connection-based practices.

  • Safety is foundational. Whether your child has experienced trauma, grief, loss, or chronic stress, we meet them with compassion and attunement, never pushing beyond what they are ready to explore.

  • Healing happens in relationships. We deeply value your role in your child’s emotional growth. Regular parent/caregiver sessions help you feel supported and informed, while also offering tools to respond with empathy, structure, and consistency. Together, we build a collaborative approach that fosters connection at home and beyond.

    • Miniatures and sand tray

    • Puppets and storytelling

    • Art, drawing, and crafts

    • Games and movement

    • Imaginative play and role-play

These tools help children safely express feelings, gain insight, and develop coping strategies. Sessions are designed to help therapists observe how a child experiences their world, and to support their journey with empathy and care.

Support for Parents and Caregivers

We believe healing is relational, not just individual. That’s why we include parents and caregivers as essential partners in the therapeutic process. Parent support sessions are a time to:

  • Understand your child’s emotional world

  • Identify patterns and triggers

  • Learn co-regulation and limit-setting strategies

  • Strengthen communication and attachment

  • Feel empowered in your role as a supportive guide

Together, we help your child feel heard, understood, and empowered-building emotional resilience, confidence, and connection along the way.
